Joan Wasser is a cancer survivor and part-owner of two thriving jewelry stores. She lives a life full of meaning and service. Outside of her work, Joan finds peace in the simple joys of life: playing tennis, tending to her garden, and enjoying a game of Mah Jong with friends. She’s also an active participant in a local book club and volunteers at her local fire department, where she enjoys being part of her local community.
However, life has not been without a profound heartache. After the tragic death of her beloved daughter, Alex, set up a Memorial Fund in memory of Alex where equine therapy, along with other therapies are primary tools for treating children and adults with disabilities. (www.BEATS-INC.org)
Ellie, Alex’s sister, and brother in-law, Christopher, gave Joan two grandchildren, Trace and Avery. Nothing lights up her world more than the days she gets to spend with her family and her two beautiful grandchildren. Their laughter, curiosity, and love remind her that joy is still present in the world, and their presence makes everything feel right, even on the darkest days.
